MISSION
At Migrant Connect SG, our mission is to empower individuals and strengthen communities through safety awareness, skills development, and meaningful social engagement.
We create structured opportunities where migrants and locals can learn, interact, and grow together—through training programmes, volunteering, and community initiatives. Our focus goes beyond connection; we aim to build a community that is skilled, responsible, and confident to contribute positively to society.
Through continuous engagement, we support individuals in developing practical life skills, workplace readiness, and social awareness, enabling them to integrate effectively and participate actively in Singapore’s community. 𝗚𝗲𝘁 𝗜𝗻𝘃𝗼𝗹𝘃𝗲𝗱

Migrant Connect SG is a volunteer-driven, ground-up community initiative in Singapore that brings together migrants and locals through education, safety programmes, cultural exchange, and meaningful community engagement.
Our journey began in 2010, when together with friends and newly arrived migrants from different countries, we started a small initiative called Migrant Welfare. Our goal was simple:
👉 To provide free support, free information, and real human connection.
In 2014, this initiative evolved into Migrant Matters, and today, it has grown into Migrant Connect SG—a structured platform focused on empowering individuals and strengthening communities.
We provide a free and inclusive platform where migrants can:
Access guidance and peer support
Participate in training and development programmes
Showcase talents in music, dance, and traditional cultural activities
Receive basic social support, counselling, and advocacy
Engage in volunteering and community initiatives
We focus on building a resilient and well-integrated community through:
🤝 Community & Collaboration
🩸 Humanitarian & Health Action
🪔 Cultural & Social Exchange
🦺 Safety & Awareness
🌱 Volunteer & Leadership Development
We actively collaborate with organizations such as the Singapore Red Cross, Singapore Civil Defence Force, and National Environment Agency to deliver structured programmes that combine:
Training
Real-world application
Volunteer opportunities
At our core, we believe in:
Building People → Strengthening Communities → Creating Long-Term Impact
Our initiatives are designed to create measurable, practical, and sustained outcomes:
250–300 individuals reached through education and training programmes
350+ participants engaged through community events and activities
220+ individuals trained in first aid, CPR-AED, fire safety, and emergency response
Clear pathways for participants to apply skills through volunteer programmes
150+ learners trained in digital skills, English, and workplace literacy
Improved communication, employability, and workplace integration
70–90 blood donations supported, contributing to Singapore’s healthcare system
Strong partnerships with national organizations
Increased volunteer participation and civic engagement
Reduced social isolation and stronger peer support networks
Our model is built on a continuous development cycle:
This ensures individuals:
Apply skills in real-life situations
Gain confidence through experience
Contribute back to the community
Inspire and guide others
We believe real impact is not created through one-time efforts, but through consistency, structure, and trust.
We are committed to building a community that is:
Prepared in times of need
Responsible in everyday life
Connected across cultures
Capable of creating positive change
Migrant Connect SG is driven by people and powered by volunteers. We believe meaningful impact comes from working together.
We are committed to:
Supporting our volunteers
Turning ideas into action
Creating opportunities for contribution
👉 Your involvement is not just welcomed—it is essential to our collective success.
At Migrant Connect SG, we believe strong communities are built through simple, meaningful actions.
We bring migrants and locals together through volunteering, shared learning, and cultural exchange—creating natural opportunities to connect, collaborate, and understand one another. Our approach is practical, inclusive, and community-led, focusing on real participation and impact.
We partner with local communities, volunteer groups, and agencies to organise outreach programmes, clean-up initiatives, and community activities—bringing people together through shared responsibility and purpose.
We promote a culture of care through blood donation drives, first aid awareness, CPR-AED participation, and health-related initiatives—encouraging life-saving actions within the community.
We create safe, welcoming spaces for people to connect and support one another through sports, group activities, social events, and informal gatherings—helping reduce isolation and strengthen mental well-being.
We provide free programmes in English, digital skills, and workplace readiness, alongside life-saving skills such as first aid and emergency response. We also offer informal career guidance to support confidence and long-term development.
We celebrate diversity through cultural performances, traditional activities, music, sports, and community events—using shared experiences to build understanding and unity.
We promote everyday safety through practical training, talks, and awareness sessions—ensuring knowledge is accessible, relevant, and applicable in real-life situations.
We empower individuals to take initiative, lead activities, and contribute back to the community. Through this, we nurture confident, responsible, and socially aware leaders.
We follow a simple but powerful model:
This ensures participants not only gain knowledge, but also:
Apply skills in real situations
Build confidence through experience
Contribute meaningfully to society
Inspire others to grow
Migrant workers play a vital role in Singapore’s development, yet many face social isolation and limited access to growth opportunities.
Migrant Connect SG exists to bridge this gap—by providing platforms for:

I have developed and implemented a structured approach to strengthen the community through life-saving training, practical engagement, and continuous personal development. My objective is to build a skilled, confident, and socially responsible community that is prepared to contribute meaningfully to society.
I actively collaborate with organizations such as the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) and the Singapore Red Cross to organize structured training programmes. These include Basic First Aid (awareness), CPR & AED, Fire Safety and Evacuation, Emergency Response, and Workplace Injury Prevention and Management, as well as certified courses such as Standard First Aid + AED, Psychological First Aid, and Befriending Skills. These programmes equip participants with essential knowledge, practical skills, and the confidence to respond effectively during emergencies.
Beyond training, I focus strongly on real-world application. I stay closely connected with our members by motivating and guiding them through community platforms, including virtual channels, regular online meetings, face-to-face sessions, and social platforms. This continuous engagement helps maintain momentum, reinforces learning, and builds a strong support network within the community.
Participants are consistently encouraged and supported to take part in volunteer programmes, particularly in first aid response roles. For example, through platforms created by the Singapore Red Cross, members have opportunities to serve as first aid volunteers. These roles allow them to attend to real incidents and casualties, applying their training in actual situations. This creates a complete development cycle — from learning, to practice, to real-life contribution, building both competence and confidence.
In parallel, I emphasize soft skills and personal development to support long-term growth and integration. This includes career coaching for newcomers, basic English and communication programmes, and digital literacy training such as basic computer skills and MS Office. These initiatives help individuals improve their employability, confidence, and ability to adapt to the workplace and society.
Through this combined approach, I am contributing to the development of a community that is not only socially connected but also prepared, resilient, and capable of responding in times of need. It promotes public safety awareness while fostering a culture of responsibility, continuous learning, and mutual support.
Much of this work is carried out during my personal time, including evenings, weekends, and public holidays. Despite these commitments, I remain dedicated to this mission because I believe in giving back to society, supporting others, and creating a lasting positive impact for future generations.
This is more than voluntary work — it is a long-term commitment to building a stronger, safer, and more inclusive community.

SAYEED ASIA ROBIN || SOCIAL RESPONSIVENESS
Thank you for being here today. I feel proud—not just of what we have built, but of who we are becoming together.
My story began when I first arrived in Singapore.
Like many migrants, adapting to a new country was challenging. Everything felt unfamiliar—the systems, the culture, even where to find the right information. I was confused, overwhelmed, and unsure where to turn for help.
Over time, I found a few community groups, but honestly, the experience was disappointing. Information was limited, support was unclear, and there were no proper help desks for welfare, career guidance, or general advice. Many groups focused only on cultural events held once or twice a year—and to participate, migrants had to pay high membership fees, sometimes up to $300, which was simply not affordable for new workers.
Later, I found support from some NGOs. They were helpful, but their support was limited to specific cases. What was still missing was a simple, welcoming space—a place where migrants could ask questions, learn, connect, and feel safe without judgment.
So I asked myself a simple question:
If this space doesn’t exist, why don’t we build it ourselves?
Together with friends and newly arrived migrants from different countries, we started a small initiative called Migrant Welfare. Our goal was simple:
👉 Free support, free information, and real human connection.
Since 2010, this work continued, and in 2014, we officially launched what later became Migrant Matters, and today, Migrant Connect SG.
Over the years, we grew—not as an NGO, but as a community group.
And that difference matters.
NGOs provide structured services.
Community groups are about give and take. Caring and sharing.
We support one another, we volunteer together, and we grow together.
Today, Migrant Connect SG brings migrants and locals together through meaningful, community‑led initiatives with real participation and impact:
Free English, Numeracy, WPLN & digital skills classes, supporting 190+ learners, including 129 participants in online computer training and 62 participants in English, Numeracy, and WPLN classes
Emergency preparedness and life‑saving training, delivered with partners such as SCDF, engaging 62 participants in the Responders Plus Programme and 46 participants who successfully completed First Aid, Psychological First Aid, and Befriending training
Public health outreach and awareness programmes with NEA, reaching 20+ participants through interactive quizzes and engagement sessions
Blood donation drives, resulting in 72 successful blood donations, directly contributing to life‑saving efforts
Sports events, cultural exchange, and community volunteering, including the SBS International Migrants Cricket Festival with 80+ participants
Community gatherings and social bonding activities, bringing together 300+ participants across the Annual Gathering & BBQ Parties in 2025 and 2026
Leadership and volunteer development, empowering community members to take initiative, support others, and grow as confident community leaders
These are not just programmes—they are pathways to confidence, dignity, skills, and belonging, built through real participation, shared responsibility, and a strong spirit of give and take.
On 1 January 2026, we proudly held the Migrant Connect SG Annual Gathering & BBQ Party.
It was a joyful day—full of games, music, dance, laughter, food, and friendship.
More importantly, it reminded us of something powerful:
👉 When people feel safe, welcomed, and valued, community grows naturally.
That day was not just a celebration—it was a reflection of what Migrant Connect SG stands for.
During our gathering, we talked about simple but powerful lessons—lessons that matter at work, in life, and for our future.
Stay positive and smile.
A smile can solve up to 80% of workplace problems. When you smile, you create a positive environment around you. People feel comfortable with you, are more willing to support you, and may even overlook small mistakes. A positive attitude often works in your favour.
Maintain work–life balance.
Taking care of yourself is not a weakness—it is a strength.
If you fall sick or get injured, it affects three important parts of your life:
you cannot work properly, you cannot support your employer, and you cannot support your family—or even yourself financially.
Your health is the foundation of everything.
Save for the future and follow the rules.
Always put your well‑being first. When you are healthy, you can work longer, earn steadily, and support your loved ones. Accidents can happen anytime and anywhere, so being prepared is essential.
Report early and communicate clearly.
If something goes wrong, inform your supervisor early. Early communication helps your organisation prepare and solve problems before they become serious. Even if a mistake or damage happens under your responsibility, reporting it honestly shows sincerity and professionalism. Good communication builds trust and prevents bigger problems.
Improve your paperwork and communication skills.
Even basic or partial white‑collar skills can help you present yourself as a professional and open more opportunities at work.
Higher education is not everything.
Improving your practical working skills can also lead to better performance, recognition, and higher income.
Understand who we are.
We are not an NGO—we are a community group, built on participation, mutual respect, and shared responsibility. This is a space of give and take.
Respect the law of this country.
Especially drug laws—there are no second chances. Following the law protects your future and your family.
Alcohol and smoking are not solutions.
When problems come, drinking or smoking does not remove them. After drinking, the problem is still there. Facing issues with a clear mind is always the better choice.
These lessons may sound simple, but they help shape strong workers, responsible residents, and confident individuals.
We are migrants, and we are the pride of our families.
We left home not because it was easy—but because we chose responsibility.
Our hard work supports our families, strengthens our home countries, and contributes directly to Singapore’s growth.
And Singapore recognises that.
Now, our dream is bigger—not just to work here, but to contribute meaningfully, to grow, and to give back.
This project is not about me.
It is not about recognition or titles.
Many of our activities run because volunteers give their time, energy, and sometimes even their own money. I have done the same—because I believe in this community.
But my greatest hope is this:
👉 That Migrant Connect SG continues even without me.
That more of you step up.
That leadership is shared.
That migrants support migrants—and connect with locals—to build a stronger, kinder society together.
Maybe the next leader is already sitting here today.
Together, we can create a future where migrants feel confident, informed, connected, and proud to call Singapore a place of opportunity.
Thank you for believing.
Thank you for contributing.
And thank you for walking this journey together.
